I partner with my clients to help them achieve their goals with just the right words, in just the right places. You might find me combining my journalism background and copywriting talents to create compelling content for blogs, magazines, websites, scrappy entrepreneurs and Fortune 500 brands.

My articles have appeared everywhere from Better Homes and Gardens and USA Weekend to Woman’s Day specials, Metropolis, Print and more. I’ve also authored or co-authored four books, most recently Fold Me Up: 100 Paper Fortune-Tellers for Life’s Pressing Questions.

Previously, I worked on staff at The Artist’s Magazine and a now-defunct design magazine called I.D. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor of journalism and a bachelor of arts in English.

4 surprising things you probably don’t know about me:

  • My initials—and my nickname—are MrT (Michelle Renee Taute).
  • I grew up in a tree house. Well, a real house on stilts that put it about 20-feet in the air. My front lawn ended at the Mississippi River. It’s true. Just ask my mom.
  • Even though I don’t hunt, I live with two coonhounds that my husband and I adopted from local rescues. If I had more free time, I’d start a Tumblr called “Coonhounds in the City.”
  • I’m a little obsessed with cootie catchers.
